The management/ownership worke...

The management/ownership worked very hard at chasing away members that they felt would be intimidating to the fitness ignorant, fat, middle aged, stooges this gym wants.

The whole idea is that they want members that they can tell what to do, and charge them extra money for doing it.

I talked to a number of other serious lifters that left this gym. Their story was the same as mine. The management worked very hard at being rude to us so we would leave. One day when I was benching I had about 330 pounds on the bar. The manager told me I had too much weight on the bar, and I had to take it off or he would force me to leave the premises.

This type of thing happened a lot to any member that knew what they were doing, and was lifting a fair amount of weight.

A gym should be open and accepting of all people.

What a rip off!

This is a tiny gym that got rid of all of its quality weight equipment and wants to charge you $36 a month to be a member. You can go to one of a number of other gyms in Salem for $20 to $25 a month and have a lot more equipment to use. The management gave a numbers of the heavy lifters a hard time to get them to quit because they felt these people were intimidating to the middle aged over-weight people they are seeking as members. I do not respect any business that treats anyone differently than other members.

How to lose 36 bucks in one month!

I went to the second town hall meeting that Epic Fitness conducted, two things jumped out at me during this meeting. One was that the ownership is blaming everyone else for the mass exodus of members from this tiny poorly equipped gym. They blamed the last owner, Gold’s Gym Cooperation, and even the ‘type’ of person that belonged to the gym before they took over. They took no ownership for the members that left because of decisions made by Epic Gym ownership/ management. The second thing was the attitude of the ownership is that the members must share the vision of the gym or they do not really want you as a member. The gym should share the goals of the members not the other way around. This gym got rid of equipment that many members used just to show the members that the owner/managers were going to tell them what to do. As I stated before, you are expected to share the vision of the owner and they do not care about goals of the members.
