NEVER HIRE AN INSPECTOR THAT WILL NOT GO ON THE ROOF!! Unfortunately, because he did not go on the roof of the house or the detached garage when he inspected the home, I cannot recommend him. He started the inspection before I had gotten there - he went earlier than the time we had set up to meet which I did not appreciate - and said that he was pretty much done inspecting the outside. When I asked him if he had gotten on the roof yet, he said no, he doesn't go on the roofs. Had I known that before-hand, I never would have hired him. A good and thorough inspector always goes on the roof. Other than that, he was pretty good and very nice, but nice does not pay for the roof that I got - or didn't get I would later find out. About a week after I closed on the home, the neighbor asked if I knew there were NO shingles on the side of the garage roof facing her home. I said, no. She then said you can only see it from her side and you have to go into her fenced-in yard to see it. OR go on the roof!!! Had this inspector gone on the roof as he should have on both (all) buildings and as I inquired of him, I would not have had to reshingle the garage 6-12 months after purchasing the home because I would have either not purchased the home or I would have made the seller come to an agreement before closing. Within months of closing, the garage roof was leaking and not only did it need to be reshingled, but some plyboards had to be replaced as well. NEVER HIRE A HOME INSPECTOR IF THEY WILL NOT GO ON THE ROOF TO INSPECT IT. It has been over 5 years since purchasing my home and it still bothers me enough to write this feedback. I learned my lesson and will not use this inspector again nor will I purchase through ReMax in Le Sueur, MN again as they were not honest about the roof when they listed the home and when I contacted them about it after the closing, they were very rude and told me I was not to call them and to contact my realtor that I went through. Lesson learned.
