Edison Theatre is the only fully technically-equipped, proscenium thrust theatre on the Washington University campus and plays a varied role on campus: it is home to the professional presenting series OVATIONS!; it serves as a teaching facility for the Washington University Performing Arts Department; and it is one of the few theatres in the St. Louis area to serve as a rental house for locally-based presenting arts organizations. Edison Theatre is available for rent to Washington University organizations and student groups as well as non-Washington University organizations, with performances often booked 12 to 18 months in advance. Built in 1972, Edison Theatre is on the Washington University campus in St. Louis.
