DO NOT USE THIS DJ! If I could...

DO NOT USE THIS DJ! If I could I wouldn't have given this company any stars. We hired Absolute DJ's based on an interview we had with Shawn. At the interview he was responsive, kind and professional. We asked him if he was used to working with wedding planners, because we had one, and she would act as our liaison the night of the wedding. He assured us that he was used to planners and would defer to her for timing etc.

During the planning process he emailed us back only after being prompted more than a few times that we were awaiting information. Here is where it gets really bad though...

At the wedding reception:

Prior to guests being allowed into the dining room, I was in the dining room being bustled. I noticed that there were "Absolute DJ" advertisement signs on the DJ table as well as a banner that hung across the stage. Brides! This is NOT the norm! You paid him to do a service not advertise! My wedding planner immediately asked him to take the signs down after verifying that there was nothing in the contract regarding signage. He huffed and puffed, cursing and yelling that he had been bossed around since he had been there and started his irate pattern that would continue through the evening. He begrudgingly took the sign down.

About 5 minutes later our WONDERFUL photographer asked him if he could turn off the "lasers" while she was taking detail shots of the room. He started violently cursing at her about how he had been bossed around since he arrived at the venue and how HE was used to running things. "Do you want me to take down the f'ing speakers too?" I was still in the room for this.

I immediately went and found my groom and asked him to talk to the Shawn.

Shawn, the dj, obviously got defensive and when asked if he could calm down and provide us a service we paid for without yelling at vendors and by again deferring to the wedding planner for the rest of the night, he said he would and that he was professional and the best around. He isn't even CLOSE to being good much less the best around.

During the dancing, he not only messed up almost ALL of our special songs, he also had lapses in the music where he had to start a song over that was almost done, he played "I will Always Love You" by Whitney Houston- NOT a happy song by any means.

We also noticed that during the reception Shawn and his assistant were drinking...not wanting to disturb the peace any more than it had already been we didn't say anything to the DJ but went and told the bar not to serve them anymore.

Finally- we requested that our last song of the night be "Young" by Fun. He didn't announce the last dance but he played a song that we didn't even recognize. When my husband went to ask him to play "Young" and he informed us that he couldn't because his MP3 of the song wasn't working and "What the "f" did we expect him to do?" Magically after about 2 minutes it just started working...

In the end- DO NOT HIRE HIM! He will say that I am his competition bad mouthing him and it just isn't true.
