This is the second time I have worked with Chris in a project that to say the least is very tricky. If you know anything about bowfishing you know that any platform needs to be strategically placed to accommodate convenience, stability and light placement (I will post a picture).
Not only did he design something that is strong but the size and measurements were perfect. He, again, before we started the project laid out exactly the materials I needed to acquire to save myself and my comrades a great deal of money.
To even add in a better perspective of Chris' ability he made the entire platform removal! Even helped with some rust area on my boat and instructed on how to take care of it to prevent rust from occurring again, thank you Chris I cannot wait to work with you again!

We contacted Chris to assist us with an auto repair. Chris came out to our automotive repair shop to perform a difficult and precise weld on a customer's engine. He did a great job and ultimately saved our customer from having to replace the engine in their car! We Highly Recommend Him! Thanks Again, Chris!

Chris was a perfectionist with the intellect of an engineer, and charisma of a politician. He's not the usual "drop off-pick up" service; if you have any interest in learning while you wait on your project his expertise is invaluable. I have to say that Chris has save me and my vehicle. After what I thought would be completely hopeless situation, and after countless place I tried with negative results to get two broken lock lug nuts off my SUV , the only thing that Chris told me was that it might take him a bit of time, it not to worry his motto is "he doesn't fail"! The other people I went to had made a bad situation worse, Chris told me. By using an air hammer on them. By the time he got set up and got the vehicle in the right position, I only had enough time to pull the spare tire out (which he had also come up with a clever way to lower it down since I didn't have the right tools) Chris had the lug nuts off with very little damage done to the rim. I was able to get a good used tire back on to the rim and reuse the rim with the correct lug nuts. I went to five different places, three tire shops and two welding shops plus a complete auto care shop. The first one made things worse. The others wouldn't even touch it. Telling me that it would have to be taken off by the A frame and ball joints and it was going to cost me over$1,000.00 in parts alone. Thank God I happen to come across Chris' company advertisement online. When I called him he was very polite and professional and was even more in person.
Can't say anything bad about After hours welding and trailer repair. You guys rock. You do what other won't even attempt. God bless you. I will be highly recommending this company to friends and family!

Perfect 5ft Jon Boat Platform

After serving five years honorably as an active duty Marine my attention to detail and doing anything to the best of my ability is what matters the most when it comes to any job. This is my experience with Chris at “afterhourswelding” welding a five foot platform on my jon boat. I am located in Ocala and searched for local welders to get work done to my jon boat I could not find anybody I trusted or most of the time would not even answer the phone. My buddy located in Saint Augustine found Chris’ website (afterhourswelding) and gave me his contact information. I gave Chris a call and he answered almost immediately, we set up a time a time to meet the following week. I met with Chris and he examined the materials as well as my jon boat and explained in great detail exactly how the job needed to be done as in what materials we would use, the preparation and how to even save the most money. Throughout the whole process Chris explained to me every step of the way how to get every aspect perfect, he even designed the structural guidelines to provide optimal support and the least amount of weight. On top of it all, the welds came out pretty much perfect and done in a single day, he also took the time to teach me skills I have never really had experience with as well as being an outstanding professional throughout the whole process. Since then, I have used the boat four times and it works perfect for Bowfishing or Gigging!

I would recommend Chris to anybody that needs a weld. He cares greatly about his work and his customers providing them the knowledge they need to make a conscious decision for whatever project they need done. He gave me a ton of hands on experience and even a parting gift that would help with finishing the rest of my boat. I plan on working with Chris again one day when I get my airboat!

After searching through several welders I found Mr. van at after hours welding he made himself readily available to meet with me and discuss my needs .
What I needed done was a set of six custom built furniture legs 3 feet tall offset angles and they had to be very precise . When Mr. Van met with me he asked many questions on what they used was the weight of the table etc. etc. etc. and suggested changes in my original design which benefited the project In other words I had a dream he made it work.
Not only is he highly knowledgeable but the price was excellent he added extra plates on the bottom of the legs so they would balance butter and extra mounting holes with no charge .
He even took the time to teach me some welding techniques since I showed interest in it .

Chris of After Hours Welding and Trailer Repair took in my 1968 Serro Scotty trailer frame and gave it new life! We worked out a schedule and even though I created a change order that held up the completion, Chris did not complain and whipped the frame into shape as soon as I got him the new axle that had to be custom built.



He was very interested in my project and was an integral part of the rebuild. I would highly recommend Chris of After Hours Welding to anyone needing a repair. He is straight forward and does not try to do any shim sham deals. He will let you know up front what to expect, what it will cost, and give you a timeline. As a note, I drove over an hour each way to have Chris work on my trailer.

Chris did an amazing job attaching a new trailer hitch too our food truck. He did quality work and has very competitive pricing. Would defiantly recommend him for all your welding needs.

Chris did an excellent job repairing my truck and trailer lights. Not only was he underpriced for anyone else I called he looked at my trailer and told me exactly what parts I needed. Once we tore into the wiring it turned out that I only needed 2 of the 3 parts I had purchased. So I ended up saving in parts more than he charged me for the job. Also he let me watch and explained what he was doing so I learned how to fix them myself the next time I get in a mud rut and destroy my wiring and female plug adapter on my truck. He soldered the wires together instead of going the faster cheaper route of wire crimps. Hard the time go by fast and it was like working with a friend the new how to fix something more than I did. Will definitely return to his shop if I need anything welding or wiring related in the future.

Chris was as professional as it gets. He was very accommodating regarding both my schedule and my repair needs. He went above and beyond in all aspects. He communicated with me regularly, was fast and did an excellent job. Hard to believe how great my experience was considering I paid way less than his competitors. Highly recommend Chris.

Spoke with Chris on Saturday morning about repairing a cracked aluminum frame on my dirtbike. Met him at 1pm, repaired the crack, added an extra support and was riding my bike again by 3pm. Nice work at a reasonable price and would definitely recommend.

We had an emergency to get a boat trailer from St. Augustine to Texas. We had two days to be able to get home by Christmas. Chris came out and got the trailer on the road within 2 days. He was so fast fair and efficient. I highly recommend his work and customer service.

We had an emergency with a food trailer brakes and Mr Chris was very nice, and gave us fast service. He was very efficient.

Chris did an excellent job for me. I had a dryer drum that had started to split and I wasn't even sure if it could be fixed. He knew exactly what to use to repair the stainless steel. His knowledge on materials and different welding techniques is outstanding. He made sure to smooth out the repair so the dryer is now functioning like new. He was also available after my regular business hours so it was very convenient for me as well. He was easy to reach and worked with my schedule. His shop was clean and he was very professional.

I recently bought a Hot Dog Cart, and am opening a business here in Saint Augustine selling Hot Dogs. Our health department inspection is Thursday Oct 1, in Jacksonville. Simply stated without Chris we would not be able to drive to Jacksonville Thursday. ON extremely short notice and after only a few minutes of conversation over the phone, Chris agreed to wait for me at his Shop to drop off my Cart to be re-wired. Upon personally meeting with Chris at his Shop, He felt replacement of the tail light fixtures would be a better solution; I agreed. In less than 24 hours Chris had my Cart ready and thoroughly impressed me by actually Soldering the wires together!!! This man is a craftsman and operates a very unique and In-Demand Business. I wish I would have met him sooner as Ive owned various trailers in the past!!! I recently bought a used boat & trailer. The trailer turned out to have worse rust issues, than I originally thought. So, I went to Chris for help. He recognized right away that any welding he could do would only be a short term fix. Then he proceeded to help me find a permanent solution by searching for trailers online. Long story short, Chris is knowledgeable & conscientious. He could have easily charged me for a welding job that would not have lasted. Instead, of taking advantage of me, he helped me find a permanent solution to my situation. I highly recommend Chris for any welding problems you have.

I recently had to get a “trailer hitch” for my mobility scooter because I needed more carrying capacity. Chris at “After Hours Welding” was very helpful in creating a custom designed and built hitch that bolts to a pre-existing bracket on the scooter. Chris was super accommodating and requested pictures of the towing point on the “beach wagon” and of the bracket on the scooter. With these items in hand he quickly welded up a device that I bolted to the scooter bracket in just a couple of minutes. The hitch works perfectly and Chris is to be commended for his willingness to work with the customer to come up with the ideal solution, even though it meant custom building the device.

Chris was a God send, his knowledge of trailer/mechanical/electrical repair was Impressive. Not only did he diagnosis & repair my electrical problem, he showed me ways to prevent future issues by taking very simple preventative measures! Nice guy and a great learning experience!
