Association of California Water Agencies, founded in 1910, is one of the largest coalitions of public water agencies in the United States. It has more than 450 public agency members and is responsible for 90-percent of the water distribution in cities, farms and businesses of California. The association assists in the development, management and proper use of water adhering to the environmental norms and identifies issues of concern to the water community and the public it serves. It also offers scientific and technical information to the public and policy makers and facilitates consensus building and objectives for water resource management. ACWA is governed by a 33-member board of directors and has offices in Sacramento, Calif., and Washington, D.C.
