My dad had a stroke and went here. I am not from the area and I really didn't have any clue where to put him. I came down for his admission and spent a couple of days in the area. The place was mostly clean, parts of it were decorated nicely. It seemed adequate enough. I returned home and would call daily to check on him. No matter what time I called (and I varied times to see if any one time was better.) it would take anywhere from 3 to 10 minutes for someone to come to the phone after the secretary transferred me. Then I would get a quick "he's fine. He went to therapy." and the conversation was over. I called to speak to management after a week and the lady introduced herself as the director of nursing. I told her what was happening and she said "if anything happens, we will call you. You don't need to call everyday." I know I don't need to, but I want to. I felt rushed on the phone with her and she was abrupt but not outwardly rude. I had been planning to move daddy nearer to me and requested help from the social worker. She kept saying "I'm new. Let me find out what to do." I ended up taking care of the arrangements myself, talked to Medicare and now he is my town.
