School of Swimming, established in 1974, offers swimming instructions to children and adults. The school has trained more than 57,000 young people. It offers a variety of programs to its students, including standard program, private lesson program, community water safety, and lifeguard training, and advanced techniques graduate class. The community water safety is a Red Cross course designed to train individuals to respond in an aquatic emergency. The lifeguard training is designed to provide the minimum skills training for a person to qualify as a nonsurf lifeguard. The advanced techniques graduate class is a special class designed for students who have successfully completed the school s standard program or its equivalent. School of Swimming is located in Rocky Hill, Conn.
