I called them for an issue with my boiler that they installed for the previous owner. They talked me into buying an $8,000 Navien due to the extreme high cost of repairing the original that was installed in 2002. it was 2012 when i contacted them for a service call making that original 10 yrs old (not very old Empire). The first winter with our new Navion we froze despite 3 calls i made to them for help, two service tech's and the sales engineer. They all suggested spending more money on additional base board heaters and the engineer wanted to install this ugly wall radiator in our kitchen. Without our gas fire place we could not maintain 60* that winter. Now i'm no fool and can at least smell a scam after i've already been caught up in it ($8000 later). So i decided that before the next winter started I would make the owner come here to my house. However, they insisted on sending a tech first. Well --- he was not there for ten minutes and "discovered" that the initial setup was not done right. Installation was good but set points were not. Poof !! 72* all winter. I have to admit, I was just glad to have it working right and all the drama behind me but was considering writing a letter to the editor. So today, a year later, they call to make a cleaning appointment for my Navion (which I now love), and I said sure, but I want it for free. Do you know that the owner argued that she would only do it for half price!!!! I changed her mind for her.

I used them and got burned. You cannot get through to management (I got Fred or Maurice named from Elizabeth), they did a bate and switch, Charged $541 to install a $130 part (humidifier), both techs came with the same story that they were here to check the humidifier only when I clearly had them for cleaning. They both said they would do the cleaning for "free" but don't tell the office. Something is very fishy about this company. I doubt Fred of Maurice even exist. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Others have also been unable to get through to their management.

I've been using Empire Heating for over 10 yrs and they are great, love seeing the same tech year after year. They do my yearly maintenance on my furnace and air conditioner. I also love that they can fix my plumbing when needed. Great company!

This company will scam you as much as they can; for instance, they went to a "service" at a house I own, and the first thing was a "diagnostic" of the water heater: it needed to be replaced at a cost of $800.00, when another tech fixed it with a $15.00 part. Same with the furnace, after "service" that consisted on simply blowing on it, I was told that it needed to be replaced at a cost of over $2,400.00; other company gave me an estimate of $1,200.00 for a Rheem. Big scammers! Keep away from them, avoid as the pest! But they still charged me for the "service", when the honest thing would have been to tell me that the furnace needed replacing and that "service" would be to no avail. Well, charges were contested with CC and a complaint filed with BBB. Hope they go under soon!
