I recently had a custom wood front entry door installed by this business and was happy with the installation so asked the installer to measure 2 sets of french doors for replacement. He measured and said his boss would call me with an estimate in a few days. I waited a week with no call then called them. His boss said he didn't have the measurements and needed to get with the installer and call me back. Two weeks passed with no contact so I called again and spoke with manager again. He still had no measurements and said he would call me back. The installer called me back later that day asking if I would measure the doors for him and call him back. Understandably I explained what has happended to this point and told him I wasn't sure it would be a good idea for me to continue doing business with them. I noted that in the current recession I would expect my business to be more appreciated than it appears to be by them. He told me "You've gone too far, Buddy" and hung up the phone. I set aside a minimum of $4000 for the french doors and will be spending it with a competitor. Not a happy experience at all.



But wait there is more!!! Naturally if I went through the trouble to write a review online it stands to reason I sent the business owner a letter outlining my disappointment with the situation. It wasn't too long after that I received a phone call from him asking if there was any way he could make the situation right. The manner in which he apologized for my aweful experience made me believe that he really understands the value of a satisfied customer. He explained that the employee I spoke with had been dealing with some frustrations of his own lately but that he felt really bad for being short with me. It was clear to me that he values his employees' well being a great deal also. I was glad to give them another shot. I'm happy to say that they were able to quickly complete the job on my french doors and boy are they good looking doors. The old doors would not seal right and I had aweful drafts around them but these new ones are a perfect fit and are holding up great. With all these doors finally built and installed by somebody who knows what they are doing I can even notice the dfference in my utility bills. My A/C was not always running this past summer and my heat is not constantly running this winter like it used to do. I'm glad they called me back and got this straight. I'd hate to think how my doors would look if I went with anyone else. I have amended my rating to four stars but that is mostly because I never give anyone five stars. That would mean they are perfect but as we all know, none of us are perfect. These guys definitely went the extra mile to make things right. Thanks Doors by Design!
