First, let me say that they are no Ionger on N 2nd St. Ok, so...I had the stylist RE-DO my hair (box braids) due to hair starting to unravel where the braids ended and the curls began. After going home and looking at the hair, she did the same thing, which meant that the braids would unravel soon, which they did. In addition, she went and bought me some of the most HORRIBLE looking hair that looked much like dreds which didn't when I looked down at them while she was braiding. I had to return to the salon and she once again did not secure the braids to prevent unraveling. I went on their website and contacted the owner wth my displeasure and never got a response. That's not good business. I believe the stylist and the owner are friends and she put friendship ahead of busness. I got no.."I'm sorry that happened..."I'll talk to the stylist"...nothing! This in my opinion is just as bad as what the stylist did. I kept that mess in my hair for 5 weeks since I did pay over 200.00 for it, so I wasn't wasting my money like that. I just wound up wearing scarves or headbands to hide it. She also lost out on a couple of customers. I have a friend who was going to get her hair done and treat her granddaughter, but after they saw that mess...they was like:"No, thanks...I'll go elsewhere!" Like their name, the job that was done was indeed: BAD!

I love Anita, the owner!! She knows her stuff and has revived my locs from the neglect of a previous stylist at another shop. She is a jewel and I am VERY pleased with her. I highly recommend a consultation with her.

I have been a client of Braids and Dreads since 1996. My allegiance to this establishment is a result of receiving professional service, being serviced by a staff that rank the highest on the East. Coast knowledge wise when it comes to natural hair care and they are life time learned. I am qualified to make these statements for I have worn interlocks, braids and for the last five years micro locks. This salon is amazing offering free maintenance for the life of the style and availability to Q & A in between salon visits for healthy hair! I'd recommend you calling today or visiting to begin the journey of natural hair! Rose Wright-Scott

This shop moves often & has internal conflicts so if you have a stylist you really like, get her personal info because she may be gone when you get back. Also be very specific about what you want done to your hair & how you want it...if not, you may have a problem.

I went to the salon for a consultation and was hooked from there. Their level of professionalism and knowledge about hair care is awesome. Everyone in the salon was great. If you want intelligent conversation to go along with the excellent hair service, than this is the place for you. Keep up the great work Anita and crew!
