We booked the Magnolia Ballroom for a wedding reception. The room is spacious and lovely, but the staff needs better training. They removed the personalized favors and "send-off bubbles" from the tables while the guests were dancing, and threw them away. My husband and I had to retrieve them from the trash in order to send off the couple at the end of the evening. They ran out of beer, even though we paid per person for alcohol. Several of our guests didn't even drink, but we had paid for alcohol for them as well, so the beer should not have run out. The bartenders stubbornly kept displaying a tip jar even though we had expressed to management how important it was to us that no tip jars be displayed. We paid a substantial tip up front. We didn't mind if our guests chose to give tips to the bartenders, but we felt that the display of tip jars cheapened the event and made our feelings very clear. The owners and management need to be more selective with the hiring of their staff, and give them better training. This was our second wedding reception there, and we were assured the tip jar incident would not happen again. Unfortunately, it did. The management did give us a small gift card to a restaurant to try to make up for the negative experience, but our daughter's wedding reception is a once in a lifetime event that was somewhat spoiled by the staff at this venue.
