I trusted not one, but two of my puppies to get their ears cropped at Hi Rock Vet Animal Hospital. We planned on bringing these puppies to dog shows, and ear cropping is the standard so we felt obligated to get this procedure done. I ended up with a cut that was beyond belief. Both sides were cut uneven. My wife was crying when when she saw the results. I called Dr. John Gustafson DVM and he suggested to wait 2-3 weeks and see how the ears look. How would the ears correct themselves? Am i missing something? By this time the puppies would be too old for any correction. I originally brought my puppies to Dr. John Gustafson DVM since he mentioned his 35 years experience at this. I do not know how many other puppies he has performed this surgery on, but I feel bad for the owners. After getting a second opinion from my Vet he could not believe the ear crop that was performed by Hi Rock. The cost for him to fix the problem would be more than the normal ear crop. I am faced with a decision now if I should live with dogs who look like they got in a dog fighting ring and got their ears chewed up, or get them fixed and put them through this procedure again.

In close be very careful with this vet, I don't wish this experience on anyone.

I called on Memorial Day to get my dog seen because he was whimpering and in pain. I had called earlier on the weekend but the person I spoke to advised me to wait another day and see if his condition worsened. I did wait another day and his condition did worsen so I called back. I was absolutely stunned with the tone and attitude I received from the person I spoke to. You would think that after 16 years of bringing my many animals there I would at least receive patience and courtesy, but not so. Apparently, this person did not care about me, my years of patronage, and least of all my sick animal. I'll never, ever bring another one of my animals there again.

took my dog in for a emergency C-section they tried to talk us out of saving the puppies and only have her get fixed then after we refused they told me once the pups are delivered we would be able to pick them up that night so we should get puppy formula a heating pad and syringes.... so we did then I called them they said they needed to keep the pups they were all alive but 1 at 11 o clock at night no one was checking in on them all night my pups went 6 hours without being able to use the bathroom themselves or eat so in my eyes they killed my litter and by morning all were dead.... we were told on the phone that non survived.

Doc John is the best around. He has saved the lives of many of my dogs when other vets recommended to put them down. I drive 2 hours to see him. I will not trust anyone else with my animals ever again. It's not all about the money with him he cares for animals . Most other vets all they care about is a paycheck.

This guy is bad news. Took my dog here two times both times was a disaster. Horrible customer service and the Dr. Gustafson is clueless on surgical procedures. Since my dog went to him she has not been the same. I have reason to believe he over drugged my dog. She is now very afraid of strangers since she stayed with him overnight. I am very weary of this guy and his son who is also a Vet.

DR GUSTAFSON HAS TO BE ONE OF THE MOST DEDICATED VETS I HAVE ENCOJNTERED OUR DOG Issy WAS SICK AND HE QUICKLY DIagnosed HER PROBLEM AND SHE IS ON THE MEND. His wife is also very friendly to speak with on the phone what a great team they make!!!ironic to me that his brother saved our daughters life by doing her heart surgery.

Doc has always made himself available when my animals were in need of care and is absolutely the best Vet I've had over many years and 3 dogs. He saved my dog that I have now several times from complications from chronic allergies. Can't thank him enough!

Dr Gustafson is a great Veterinarian! He saved my dog Mandy. She needed emergency surgery and the Doc and his staff were very professional and caring!

Terrific vet, very old school, lots of personal attention and horse sense!--can't say enough good things, we're thrilled we found him!
