Should have known something was amiss when the contractor did not provide a written estimate.



I normally do most of the painting but did not want to do the stair case since the walls were a little high plus I didn't have any ladders or scaffolding etc... Hired these guys (father and son) to paint the walls, the staircase railing and banister. They estimated it would take 8 hours with two people for $600.00 which sounded great. Well on the second day they finished up and of course after they left I noticed some glaring problems. The staircase railing has bumps in it (probably from them sanding and not cleaning it before they paint), there are areas the missed on the walls, some of the railing posts were not painted on the back side. I didn't care about the downstairs or stairwell carpet since it was getting replaced, but they dripped paint on the upstairs carpet as well. After several emails back and forth I asked for a partial refund 200.00 for half the cost it will take to fix the railing and banister (sand and paint). I received an email back stating that I had a lot of things wrong etc. etc. But it really comes down to this... the job they did was poor, it doesn't matter if they spent more time than estimated, they did a bad job that I can't even just paint over and fix. I will have to resand the stair rails and paint over. Do yourself a favor and go with someone else. They might be cheaper but it's not worth it.
