My first time going here. I had tooth pain on my left side of my mouth. All my teeth on that side hurt. Before doing any x-rays they said I needed a mouth guard cause that can only explain why my whole left side hurts. They said I must be grinding my teeth when I sleep. I believed them cause they are a dentist. They started to get molds ready for a mouth guard which costs $75. I asked if I could change my mind and not get the mouth guard and they said yes. They did x-rays and found a cavity on my side left tooth on the top. They then tried to drill and fill the cavity. I had some pain. They put more novacaine in my mouth. I then felt more pain. They said "well sometimes novacaine isn't enough and there isn't much we can do" So they drilled and said "you need a root canal" I was like no kidding!! So I did not need a mouth guard. It was a bad cavity that was hurting my teeth. They did another x-ray and said "yep. you need a root canal". So then they put medicine into the tooth and put on a temporary filling. I then paid and made my app for a root canal and went home. I decided I wanted a second opinion and called another dentist. Johnston Jon J Dmd. They took me right in. I showed them my x-rays and they agreed that I do need a root canal. They looked at the tooth and said that smatlack didn't do the temp filling right. So he took a tool and smoothed down the temp filling. smatlack didn't smooth it out. They just put it in and it was sharp and uneven. I was scared cause john wasn't going to numb my tooth to smooth the temp filling. He was very nice and reassured me that it was not going to hurt and if it did to raise my hand. He finished and it did not hurt. He told me my teeth have bad tarter build up on them and they need to be cleaned. He showed me how bad it looked on the x-rays. Smatlak said nothing about this at all. John also said I have more cavities that need to be filled. Smatlak said nothing about this.

Smatlack knew how nervous I was about getting a root canal. John knew too and he gave me some xanax to keep me calm during the procedure. Smatlack gave me nothing. John even prescribed me some mouth wash cause I needed it. Smatlack did nothing. So yesterday I get my root canal done at john's office and I have no complaints what so ever. He was gentle. Gave me enough novacaine. Kept asking me how I was feeling. If I was ok. Did the root canal in one visit. I told him thank you and I will def be a returning customer for life. John even agreed with me that I do not need a mouth guard and that smatlack didn't know what they were talking about. Said that the reason my whole mouth hurts is cause of the deep cavity. Not cause I'm grinding my teeth. Crazy! I don't even grind my teeth when I sleep.
