The best sausage gravy on the planet! This is where the locals go for breakfast. Cash only, very popular establishment that caters to locals (seasonal or otherwise), high school students and their friends. It's a tradition in Punta Gorda that has endured hurricanes, floods and has always been there for their patrons. A family seating atmosphere (picnic style tables) where they'll seat you with another party if there's room. Don't plan on sitting on a table until your party shows up. They ask you to wait until all in your party are present for seating. Not open Monday, but the rest of the week is well worth it.

I have been a faithful customer for 30 years. While stationed in Fort Bragg, NC for 4 years, I made the return trip home every 3 months and never missed a meal at the Smokehouse. It will surely keep you coming back for more. You will not find sausage gravy this good anywhere from North Carolina south and Louisiana east, I know I've tried and I always come back to the Smokehouse.
