RUN AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS!!!! John Max is a deceptive and dishonest business owner. I am a tenant of his at one of his rental properties, and he is the worst landlord I have ever had. His contracts are deceptive and very unfair. If you need repairs, you can expect them to take a very long time, as he doesn't do business through true professional companies, he deals exclusively with his friends, and they do shoddy work, when they show up at all. Also, he will try to get extra money out of you any chance he gets by sticking repair costs of anything to you. If the water heater breaks down, you're paying for it. If the sewage clogs due to earlier tenants, you're paying for it. If the roof collapses, you're paying for it. He also will show up whenever he wants without any prior notice. His rent prices are cheap because the homes he owns are cheap, and the service you get is even cheaper. Before you sign a contract with this guy, read it very carefully, and don't assume he won't try to screw you just because he seems like a nice guy; he seems very nice, but his business is failing and he has absolutely no concern for his tenants, he will attempt to get extra money out of them any way possible.

I have never dealt with him in any of his other numerous businesses, but through my experience, I would say STAY AWAY!!! If you do go into business with him, don't let him bully you; he tries to intimidate with his contracts, and he says that he has experience in everything (according to him, he's been a cop, a fireman, a plumber, in the Navy, in the Army, a painter, a framer, a lawyer, an accountant, a landscaper, and a mayor, and these are only what he's said specifically to me!) but he knows that he'd lose in court, so if you won't be bullied he usually backs down. Regardless, he is very dishonest, and I will never deal with him again.
