Boys and Girls Clubs of Providence, R.I., is affiliated with the national program of Boys & Girls Clubs of America. It offers five-core program initiatives including arts, sports and fitness, social skills, character development and leadership development and education and career development. B&GC of Providence, with a branch in Wanskuck, R.I., offers a range of after school programs for children and disadvantaged youth ages 6 to 18. The club, established in 1868, provides prevention programs for youth, including gang, alcohol, drug, tobacco, teen sex and unplanned pregnancies. B&GC of Providence also offers a range of clubs, such as street smart, kids in control, power hour, family support, career explorers, job ready, and keystone and torch clubs.
