JKL's business practices are fraudulent. I have a long detailed story, but the Reader's Digest version is that upon JKL's advice, I purchased a new $12,750.00 HACU rooftop until from JKL. The price included installation and a warranty. JKL never tested to see if the air conditioner worked (installed in winter). On a May 90 degree day, I was dismayed that my new air conditioning unit wasn't functioning. JKL sent over a competent technician, who was able to wire the unit properly so that the air conditioner worked.

Surprisingly, JKL sent me a bill for over $400 to be able to use the air conditioner on the unit JKL had recently improperly installed (December). Moreover, JKL never informed me they failed to test the air conditioner. I responded with a detailed letter. JKL never responded - they simply sent another bill 30 days later. I received the third bill a few days ago, which prompted me to write this review to warn others about JKL's deceptive business practices.

Do not deal with this company. I've been a client for more than a dozen years and for the most part they did a very good job, but my recent experience is that they are unwilling to take responsibility for any problems you may have with service, questions on a bill or return calls. Very unprofessional.

If I could give this company a zero I would. I should have listened to the negative reviews on here. Now I'm left with a system that I had to hire another company to fix because they don't even back the installation or equipment that they install. The sales people are super shady. They switched out the thermostat we asked for with an inferior one and then tried to charge us more for it. The owner is one of the most rude people I have ever met in my life. Save yourself the disappointment and find yourself a qualified company that isn't going to rip you off.

This company should really loo...

This company should really look into getting better sales people. We didn't have any issues with them showing up for the estimate, the issue was with their proposal. We received a proposal dated 11/8/12 which among other things included that our system would qualify for two rebates worth $1,100.00 total. We had 45 days to accept the proposal from this company.

We tried negotiating like any person would do when your faced with a proposal close to 13K. Do you buy a car without trying to negotiate? They wouldn't budge on the price at all. Finally, on the 26th of Nov we called to just accept the proposal. At that time we received a rather snotty email from the salesperson that came out to our house letting us know that one of the rebates was only good if we installed by 11/30 which in their words would be impossible. We contacted the main office to question why we were given a proposal that was good for 45 days that included rebates that were not? She seemed to be upset with the salesperson and asked us to call back the next day. We sent the proposal into them and received a call the next day from the salesman telling us that he would not do the job. HE was upset that we wanted HIM to honor a rebate that HE included in our proposal. So to apparently teach us a lesson he refused to install the system for us. So BEWARE if you receive a proposal from this company that includes rebates, ASK when they expire so you are not blind sided. Money is money and we would have looked forward to getting that $1,100 back and I would have been very upset when it ended up only being $300. I have to wonder at what point in the middle of the job would we have found out about it?

These guys went above and beyond to re-do the heating system at my new house. They had a big job with removing an 80 year old oil burning steam boiler, a bunch of asbestos piping, a water heater, and 6 radiators. Their crew was extremely nice and I wasn't worried about leaving my house with them working there. Once they removed all of that they installed a brand new combined tankless hot-water and furnace system and new baseboard. They were there about 2.5 days for the whole job. On the second day they were there from 8am to 8pm working non-stop. You can't say these guys don't work hard. They even did a few extra things and gave me some good tips. Overall it was great. The best part was they were $5,000 cheaper than the other quote i got! System works great and couldn't be happier. Thanks JKL,

Would have gave it a zero if possible. This company is a disgrace. They were supposed to show up at my house two different times each for a free estimate contracted by national grid on converting to natural gas furnace. First time they never showed up for the appointment. The second time I called a couple days in advance to confirm the appointment, and still, they never showed up again. Not even a phone call saying why or acknowledging missing it. Take your business elsewhere to a company who wants your business, because apparently they don't. Bad customer service is what kills businesses in this day and age and economic times.

They are probably way overpriced on labor anyways since they have a contract with National Grid to do installs.

Very unprofessional and shady

I called to have an estimate done on one of my tenants central air units. I just wanted to know what was wrong and how much it would cost to fix it. I got a call later on and was told that the motor was gone and it would cost $275 to fix it. That was on top of the $145 they were charging me to service it and change the filter. I never agreed to have it serviced or to have the filter changed, but they had already done the work so what could I do. It would have been nice for them to call me to let me know what they intended to do. They went out again a few days later to change the motor. I authorized them to charge my card $275 for the motor and labor. Next thing I know they are charging me an extra $100 without my authorization. I call to find out and Sue tells me she misquoted me. It would have been nice if she called first to let me know it would be more and get my authorization to charge my card more money. Stay away from this company, they are very shady.
