I admitted my 85 year old mom here as a transition after rehab from a broken hip. Place is nice and new, but rooms are a mile away from sitting/dining areas. Mom felt isolated. When I quesioned a nurse to be sure she was getting her important meds correctly, the nurse was "too busy" to discuss it, then come to find out there were mistakes being made. This nurse was extremely defensive about my viligance in being sure my mom was being cared for. Red flag. Then, after about a week and a half of being there, mom fell three times in a few hours time one morning. She was hospitalized and it turns out she was extremely dehydrated. I got no calls from anyone at Benton House to see how she was. Three days later, I went to pick up her things because she went back to rehab from the setback of falling, and their only concern was that i didn't give 30 days notice. Wow… a real disconnect… no caring whatsoever. It's sad and stressful dealing with aging parents and trying to find a secure, loving place for them. If you don't get a good feeling, trust that feeling! One of the nurses was wonderful here… but once something went wrong, they really just turned their backs. Really disheartening. Their silence was deafening. I'll also add that because mom couldn't bend over, she drops kleenex and papers on the floor. "Housekeeping" did not clean her room. There was trash all over the floor that she couldn't reach. I discovered this when I picked up her things.
