Founded in 1962, Abilities First, formerly known as REHAB Programs, is a nonprofit organization that offers a range of educational, vocational and rehabilitative services for people with disabilities. It offers residential support, early intervention, nursing care, dietary counseling and employment assistance services. The center operates a preschool that offers educational programs for children between the ages of 3 and 5. It manages a clinic that specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of more than 700 children and adults with disabilities. Abilities First also provides occupational, physical, speech and sensory therapy services. It focuses on various learning living skills, such as money management, cooking, shopping, travel training and medication management. The center assists in the development of communication skills. It additionally participates in several fundraising events.
