I scheduled furnace maintenance with Specialty Heating two weeks before the date they were to show up at my house. I also had to schedule time off with my employer to be at home at the appointed time for the maintenance. On the day of the maintenance appointment I arrived home in plenty of time before the scheduled appointment. The scheduled time for the maintenance came and went and no one showed up and there were no phone calls from Specialty Heating. Over an hour past my appointment time I called in to Specialty Heating to find out what had happened. When they answered the phone they said it was a “very busy day” and the technicians were “busy at an installation”. WHAT!?!? How come no one at Specialty Heating could do a better job of scheduling the service people so that someone was free to perform my scheduled maintenance, or at least call me? Again, let me repeat, my maintenance had been scheduled for over two weeks and I had taken time off from work to be available. I now do not plan to have Specialty Heating do my maintenance. They stood me up once. What is to keep it from happening again? I think it is time for me to find another Carrier certified dealer to assist me.

Specialty Heating and Cooling is the only company I will call for any HVAC system jobs. Mike Morgan came out to my house to evaluate my HVAC system to see if I could save money from a new furnace. He took a look at it and I was pleasantly surprised that I didn't need a new furnace. Even though it wasn't the most efficient, he said it was new enough to get by with. He wasn't pushy or try to get me to by something I didn't need. I really respect a company that will take the time to come out and look at what you got without trying to ripe you off.
When we do need a new furnace, Mike and everyone at Speciality Heating and Cooling are going to be the first one to call.

The team at Specialty Heating is professional, courteous and always looking to educate their customers and business partners without being pushy. I appreciate how well they listened to understand what I needed and wanted in a new furnace before offering all the various options. They can explain all the confusing details in a way homeowners can understand and as a result I have the confidence to make the right decision. It’s so awesome that Specialty Heating & Cooling offers green heating and cooling options! I love being comfortable year-round but in the past I’ve felt guilty about how our furnace and heat pump contribute to greenhouse gases. But Specialty Heating & Cooling offer products and technology that are so way much better on the environment, and also a lot quieter! They are so quick and professional with their responses and installation, too.

We hired Specialty Heating to service a heating system for a real estate transaction we were working on. Specialty Heating came out to the property and went right to work. First, however, they were courteous and polite and took great care of our need.
I was very impressed. They are people you can trust, are prompt and get the job done. I was particularly impressed with their 'perfect job' program. They really want to make sure they have done everything possible to please their client. That is amazing!

Specialty Heating & Cooling, in Tigard, is one of the best managed businesses I have been in. And it shows. They have more certifications, awards and plaques on their walls and desks than I’ve ever seen in a business.
They have an interesting process of guaranteeing a “perfect job” to their customers. The process has been tested and employed numerous times to the point that their customer referrals are one of the largest sources of new business.
They’ve also been in business a long time. They have employees who have been with them for many years. Their location is very clean, organized and full of content employees. For all of your heating and cooling needs go see this company; it’s their Specialty!

I contacted Specialty Heating and Cooling to set up an appointment to have my heating and cooling system serviced. They did a great job. The service technician was very pleasant and went right to work. They didn’t try to up sell me on anything I didn’t need, which I truly appreciated. I noticed my heating bill went down right away too, saving me money in the long run. Plus I have the peace of mind knowing that my furnace is getting the maintenance it needs. I will call them again. They were very fairly priced.

The following is my opinion:
Had an interesting experience with Specialty. My gas furnace stopped working- air wouldn't circulate. Called Specialty- they charged $99.99 to come out and diagnose the problem. OK, "Tech" came out, looked at my furnace, said it was the gas valve. Wanted $500 plus to change a solenoid. OK, no choice (solenoids are cheap in actuality). Changed solenoid. Furnace still didn't work. "Tech" then said it was the control board, and there might have been a "domino" effect with the solenoid. Cost to replace the control board? $439.00 ( I went online and found the manufacturer's price is $98 plus shipping). DON'T USE THESE GUYS- THEY ARE PRICE-GOUGERS AND THEIR "TECHS" ARE REPLACEMENT ARTISTS!
It is entirely possible for the gas valve to short out and cause the control board to fail. The price charged for a task includes the price of the part, a mark up, the labor to perform the task and a certain amount of overhead charge to pay for the truck, dispatcher, insurance, the rent, etc. The price for a part found online is irrelevant. You can buy spark plugs on line, but that doesn’t get your car tuned-up. HVAC service work can be expensive, that is why we always have the customer authorize the repair before we proceed.
