VERY POOR EXPERIENCE

Ryan is the least customer focused business person I have ever done business with. If you expect to be treated fairly and professionally, look for another videographer as you will not get this from Ryan

I reached out to Ryan to film an interview between my children and my parents (aged 84 and 85). between 12/26-12/28/2017. We talked and agreed on an approach and I thought all would be great. Ryan agreed to send me a contract and he did but it was for 12/29, a date that was not in the range I requested. I then asked Ryan again for a date in the original range, which he did and sent me a new contract 3 days later. I was headed out of the country and did not want my travel to delay getting payment to Ryan so I sent him the $300 deposit with out signing the contract as I had not received it by the time I left.

After I sent the payment and before I got the contract, my 85 year old father had an incident that required him to visit a doctor where we learned he had a serious hip condition that could require surgery. I sent Ryan an email letting him know of the issue and saying that we may need to reschedule. Over the next two days, we learned that my father's condition was more serious than thought and that he may never make the long flight from Buffalo to Portland to visit again.

I contacted Ryan and requested a refund of my deposit as we did not have a signed contract and he had incurred no expenses as we were so early in the process. Ryan refused my request, citing a cancellation clause in the contract that I had never signed. He did offer a reschedule but with my father's health, that is not something that I can commit to.

I am appalled that Ryan would enforce a cancellation clause in a contract that I did not sign. I trusted Ryan and went out of my way to send him the deposit so that he would not be inconvenienced by my travel schedule. It is now clear to me that I was more concerned about Ryan and treating him fairly than he is about taking care of me, his customer.

So, if you are looking for someone with customer focus, keep looking as Ryan is NOT your guy.
