Based in Portland, Ore., Hot Lips Pizza is a family-owned pizzeria with four locations. The company s goal is to be the most sustainable pizza parlor in the United States. Its founder, David Yudkin, has taken dramatic steps to reduce energy consumption in his shops, he buys seasonal organic foods and supports local agriculture. In addition to pizza, the company sells chipotle and habanero sauces and pickled jalapenos made from locally grown, organic peppers. It also bottles and sells Hot Lips Soda, which substitutes fresh local berries, fruits and real cane sugar for corn syrup and concentrate. Founded in 1984, Hot Lips Pizza employs more than 85 people.
