I've lived at this property for a little over three years. The location is great, there are basically no pet restrictions, and all of the residents I have met are FABULOUS people. That said, each year I am increasingly disappointed by the staff and overall condition of the property.

To start, helpful office/maintenance staff keep getting relocated to other properties leaving behind only those that push the limits of ineptitude. Questions about leasing language, billing methodology, work repairs, and other general concerns are met with utter indifference and blank stares. Leasing agreements have consistently been inaccurate and maintenance, albeit quick to respond, often put a "band-aid" on a problem instead of properly repairing the problem. There are literally no problem-solving skills here with the exception of the assistant manager Kirstin Phillips and the former maintenance manager, Ben (man, do I miss him).

As for the units, to my knowledge, the only differences between "old" and upgraded units are a new coat of paint and black appliances. There might be a few more differences but there's no way that they're worth the cost. In the last 6 months, the water has been shut off at least 4 times to address poor property plumbing- during which time staff is scarce. The only means of communication the office is willing to employ are notices left on unit doors (which is an improvement from only posting them on the office door) typically after 6pm so that no one is available the same day to address any questions. Not to mention that the leasing office is a bit misleading about the amenities--the pool opening often gets delayed for unknown reasons and the water continuously looks blue-green; there are few exercise machines available in the fitness "center" and at least one is always broken; the racquetball court is old and dirty; and the community garden they like to tout is at the very back of the property, in a riparian area, with soil so saturated that I barely lost a shoe in the mud!

The straw that broke the proverbial camel's back happened recently when, in late Feb. 2014, the property began exterior renovations to repair years of extensive wood rot. Good, right? Not quite. The project has gone horribly off-track and every building has been stripped of exterior wood from patios, chimneys, siding, etc. (I swear the tear down brought about mice because I've never had rodent problems in my life until now. Thank heavens I've only seen them run across the outside deck...so far.) All patios have been completely blocked off to residents for over a month with no end in sight because management is still "working on the timeline of repairs with the construction contractor." What?!? Wouldn't that be something to address BEFORE tear down? What stings the most is that I now live in an over-priced unit at an old property with shabby apartment homes. (When I moved in, the unit had holes and damages from the previous tenant that were never repaired, mismatched painted walls, unpainted wall patches, and other short-comings that had to be addressed). Add that to the fact that I now can't even enjoy the little comforts of my patio just as spring is starting...I'm done- how can I continue to call this place "home?" My suggestion to anyone looking at Breckenridge- carefully evaluate all your other options before seriously considering this place. It may seem like a good idea at first but it will quickly go downhill.
