Provided by YP.comI would give him less than one star if I could.
I submitted a Casio Privia PX160 to this man on August 18th. He instructed me to meet him at a truck stop at N. Boat Basin Road. There he quoted me $125 and 2-3 week turnaround and took the keyboard away in his truck (highly unusual and unprofessional). He didn't cash the check for a full month, and when he finally did it bounced, I immediately paid him another $40 for his bank fees. Now it's nearly 3 MONTHS later and he wants to charge me an additional $216 to get my keyboard back. He did not consult me about the additional cost before cashing my check and going ahead with the disproportionately costly repair to a keyboard that you can get under $500 brand new. Given the choice, I would have opted to return it to the seller, but he saw an opportunity to take advantage of me.
Read the other reviews, this is a pattern of behavior!
This man completely misrepresented himself and now wants to extort more money from me. He is a liar and a crook. NEVER CALL HIM!!!

Provided by YP.comI took in my stereo receiver for repair and they told me it would be five weeks before it was done. I than received an email asking me not to inquire about the repair as they need to focus on the repairs not the phone calls. Five weeks later, they emailed me to tell me that my unit cannot be repaired because parts are not available. Totally unsatisfactory. If they had told me at the beginning that parts might not be available for my unit, I would have skipped the repair.

Provided by YP.comThis place is awesome! I brought in my favorite receiver, a 40 year old Sansui 881, with two specific issues. A loud hum when turned on and the left channel was burned out. I called around before dropping in here and found super long waits at other repair places. Fred's Sound of Music was backed up 6 to 8 weeks and required a higher deposit ($90, WTF!). I was looking to use this receiver in less than 2 weeks and that's exactly what I got from these guys. Fast turn around, good solid work, and I got my This place is awesome! Provided by YP.comSTAY AWAY. Brought a tape deck in for what I thought was a simple repair. They took a $60 deposit on it which I was told would go towards repair. Received a letter back saying it would be $250 extra to repair because the part was overseas. Now this is on a piece of equipment that is barely worth half of that. I declined but was told that since they charge $90 an hour, I was not getting my $ back. I will never bring my business there as one of their main competitors, Audio Specialties, will not charge for estimates if they cannot fix it. I told the owner that I thought $90 an hour for electronics repair seems to be excessive considering that the average wage earner in Portland likely makes a third of that. I think their business model is bad and does not promote repeat customers. At least not my business.

Provided by YP.comTook my old peavey amp into these guys and told them I did not want to spend over 80.00 on it because it was old.
Turns out it was going to be 125.00 to repair it. To my surprise they went ahead and repaired it and just discounted the extra 45.00
I sure appreciate it guys.

Provided by YP.comThis is a terrible repair shop and I would not recommend it to anyone. When I brought in a turntable for repair I asked what the turnaround time was and I was told about 4 days, after a week I still had not heard anything from them. I decided to call and ask for the status of the item, when I did Randy was very rude and told me that the turnaround time was about 15 days. So I waited a month and still had not heard anything so I decided to call again, once again Randy picked up and was very rude and said that they had to order a part. I never received a call letting me know that they had looked at the item or that they needed a part for it. So the next day he calls me back and tells me it is ready and that the repair charge was $114. I go there and pay the money then get it home to realize that all they had done was changed a belt which had nothing to do with the reason I brought it in in the first place. I called them back to ask why the fee was so high and he said one of the channels was out, but I know for a fact that it was fine because I had been testing it before I brought it in.
So to sum it up, this place is rude, does not do the work that was requested and over charges. It is a scam and I will never go there again.
I just ran across this today 2/15/2009 First of all let me say that I am truly sorry that The customer Manual Ruiz feels he was not treated fairly. There are however some inaccuracies in what he has said here that I feel compelled to point out. First he was not quoted 4 days. He was quoted 1 to 3 weeks depending on parts and told that at the time we were running towards the end of that schedule. If he called up in four days he would have been politely reminded of the schedule and told that we would call him as soon as his unit was ready. We are often under severe time demands here at the shop. Perhaps he took our need to get back to work to meet those demands as rudeness. Certainly no rudeness was intended. The Second issue is that contrary to what he claims here. The problem he brought it in for and I quote was for "hum out of one side and low signal." Hence our latter telling him we he enquired about the bill that we repaired a side that was out. Pont in fact is when we put it up on the bench we got nothing at all out of one side most likely this was do to the unit getting jostled around when he transported it to bring it in for repair. In other words that side was on its way out and the jostling around during transport simply finished the job. In addition to this problem we also found the belt to be stretched out and slipping so we of course put it on order and had to wait for it before we could complete his repair. Of the 114.71 that he was charged 24.50 was parts and the remainder was labor billed out at our shop rate of 77.50 per hour. When Mr. Ruiz called us after he picked up his repair and complained about hum in his system I asked him if he had hooked up the ground that is required from the turntable to his receiver. He had not. At this time he got it in his head that this had to be his problem all along and that we had not repaired anything and were ripping him off. Never mind the fact that not hooking up the ground would cause hum in both sides not just one side, and would not cause low volume in either. However Mr. Ruiz was not Interested in listening to reason and exploring the facts of the situation. He was more comfortable thinking we had ripped him off. Again I am sorry that Mr. Ruiz feels the way that he does. We try our best to provide prompt courteous and fairly priced service to all our customers and do our best to resolve any issue with a customer should a problem arise. Best regards, Randy Morgan
