The Hofbrau Restaurant in Porter, TX used to be one of our favorite places to dine. Sadly, in my opinion it has steadly gone down hill. The manager seems to care less about customers' satisfaction.



We ate there last Saturday with only a faint hope it would have gotten better.



First, the artifical sweetener for the iced tea was so bitter I couldn't drink it. That should have been a warning then. When I ordered my $20.00 New York strip steak, I asked for the sweet potato fries -- the waiter said that would be an extra $1.25. They had never charged extra before that.



Second, I asked for the marinated house salad. Instead, I got the same garden salad as my husband, with some of the marinade thrown on. It was not at all the same as it used to be.



Third, and by far the worst, was the steak. It was very tough and chewy, and had inedible gristle running down the middle. Not once did the manager drop by to see how things were, although I saw him just mostly standing around doing nothing.



The food had gotten so bad in the past we decided not to ever go back there again. It's been several years now since we had eaten there. I wish I had not relented and decided to give it one more try.
