I enjoy reading the Portage Daily Register because it provides the news of Marquette County, where I live. Our local weekly isn't really a "news" paper. Plus, the Portage Daily Register, being part of Capital Newspapers, contains a reasonable variety of state and national news. But, my main reason for subscribing to the Portage Daily Register is to get the comic "Doonesbury." I was delighted to find outstanding comics by Joe Heller of the Green Bay Press-Gazette, as well. Plus a nice variety of features and balanced editorials.
