Unfortunately, this establishment is not Larry's Smokehouse. This sad place is just called The Smokehouse. When the original owners left so did the clientele. The new owners ruined the business and the food. The original owners invented the menu and they tried to make the meals the same but just couldnt do it. No one likes a copy cat or a stealer but it was funny watching them try to keep a business they didnt build. I knew the original owners and they should of stayed the business would still be open.I guess its true when they say karma is a b****!!!!!

We've gone twice to Larry's Smokehouse, and both times the food and service were exceptional. The first time my husband loved the brisket sandwich and fries; I enjoyed the pulled-pork sandwich with mac and cheese. The amiable owner Larry brought out a complimentary plate of ribs, fried catfish, and hush puppies, and all were very tasty. The second time I recommended the place to some teacher friends, and all of us raved about the food: half-rack of ribs, coleslaw topped with hard-boiled egg and bacon, baked beans, chicken wings, pulled-pork sandwich, roasted chicken gumbo, bread pudding, and peach cobbler a la mode. Three barbeque sauces made on the premises are offered: traditional, Dr. Pepper, and mango with habanero. Our server Star was very friendly and attentive. Larry's Smokehouse is a wonderful addition to downtown Portage. The food is great! The prices are more than reasonable, and you won't go away hungry. Everyone should treat himself to a meal at Larry's regularly!
