Children are not treated equally!

The director believes she knows it all as it relates to early childhood education. I am sure the children learn a great deal but learning is more than just reading, writing and math. It is about acceptance of all children. The director decides that a child needs to be tested when as an educator of special needs students for over thirty years, I would certainly see any red flags indicating developmental issues. A child 39 months old who speaks English, Spanish and does sign language does not need speech language. The director is very judgmental which is concerning as she is an associate pastor. Though this has been difficult, no one should be where they are not wanted. What happens when the child is tested as the director requests and no issues are found, then what?
The answer is - it will be an uncomfortable situation because once the director deem the child special needs, she believes her diagnosis is not the Gospel but her gospel.

I would just like to express as a mother of three children- wide ranges of 17, 11 and now 2. I LOVE this school, the teachers and the atmosphere provided by all. I have experienced a few schools and day care centers, I would rate this one the top of the line. From the time I called to inquire information, came to visit and tour and now with my son being in the two year old class I (and my child) could not be happier. I read a few sour reviews and was a little shocked, being I have met and experienced the "director" Tracey on many personal times and she has been so wonderful to us and my child. She is always overly friendly and warm. Don't always believe what you read, experience it for yourself and do your own research. I wouldn't take or entrust my son with anyone else. Love TLC and their staff.

I am really surprised with all of the negative reviews. Both of my children went there and loved it. Also when they went to public school they had already been taught the things for the grade they were going into. My son has a hard time learning and he already knew what the public school was teaching all the way up to February curriculum. I did not have one bad experience with any of the teachers. Mrs Tracey was my daughters kindergarten teacher and she absolutely loved her. She was having a little trouble with reading and she took the extra time out of the day to help her. As far as money goes I don't see that as the only thing they are worried about. I am a single mom and to help me be able to keep my daughter there for kindergarten Mrs Tracey got her a scholarship to pay half of her tuition. So if you are looking for a nice, loving, and clean environment for your child you will not be disappointed here.

I found out through mutual friends that Tracey Mercer was the director for Abundant Life Academy of Learning, the church-affiliated day care, during the time that Zaniyah Hinson, 2, was left in a stiflingly hot van. The girl died of asphyxiation Aug. 10, 2001. Zaniyah Hinson died because of inadequate staffing and continuing pressure from the administration to use school staff to move furniture. Please, if your child goes there, visit unexpectedly and often. Mercer is a wolf in sheep clothing.

Rude! Unprofessional. Unloving.

While the facility itself is up to par, you can't avoid the evil Director Tracey Mercer. If she treats parents outright rude, I can only imagine how cruel and demeaning she treats the children and the staff. Run! Fast! There are too many other quality daycares in the area for her to continue to treat people the way she does. She'll smart you off and try to talk down to you, not listening to anything you are actually trying to say. If you just want to drop your kid off and you don't care, then this may be an ok place for you. But if you care, please listen and look elsewhere. I honestly have not been treated this rudely by another person in a really long time. And it scares me to think about how she continues to treat all those around her. Tracey doesn't listen. She just hears what she thinks and overbearingly tries to bully you. Too much drama and not enough love. Not body deserves this.

DON'T DO IT

Teachers are nice, school is clean and safe from what I saw. BUT.... the director is more like a DICTATOR. You would think being a Christian school, and the fact that she is very involved in the connected church, that she would feel empathy and consideration towards others and treat people how she would like to be treated, but it's clear almost the second you walk in the doors that this is not the case. there's a very ominous energy you feel while inside. She is definitely more concerned with money than she is with making the children and parents feel welcome and accepted. I've worked in quite a few daycares, and would highly recommend alot of them above this school, including Bright Beginnings and Small Steps Academy, both right down the street from TLC.

Not the best choice

I have to say I read the reviews of the previous reviewers and I do agree about the judge mental behavior and money issue. The school is clean and the curriculum seems to be set up nicely however the atmosphere doesn't give you a very warm feeling or accepted feeling. I found it very disappointing considering this was a church.

My daughter went there from 10 months old to 5 years old. The care was great and she learned a lot. But your kid is only special there if the parents donate money. If you don't donate to the gift for Tracey at the end of the year, they will come to you and ask for it. Yes, they keep track of who gives. I would not recommend this school because of the way that some children are treated differently just because their parents do or do not have money. To me that is not a Christian way to behave.

I am not sure the previous reviewer has the right school. My child is not in kindergarten yet and she is reading short words, she has homework, and is becoming quite educated for Pre-K. At the rate they charge, they well make up for packing lunch four of the five days. For $3 on Friday they have pizza day. The teachers have always been helpful and my daughter LOVES this school and Mrs. Latoya. I have never found bug bites on her. I don't know about a goat, that may have been before my time. A snake would not surprise me as it is in the wooded area of Taylor Road next to Cracker Creek, our house not too far away gets the same kind of critters, a result of the area, not the school's doing! TLC was highly recommended to me by several of my good friends and I only wish I knew about it when my son attended PreK. Its a great, clean, and professional school and I am blessed everyday that there are caring people watching after my Eden while I cannot.

My child has gone there for a year and I pulled her out, !! Big bug bites bad after they go outside to play there. they watch t.v. In class all day, teachers do not educate the kids, they had goats but died of snake bites that is located near the playground. :( The owner demands doctors notes only if you have your child out for the day, well you pay for the week anyhow?, they don't feed the kids you have to bring food! You won't be notified if your child is hurt! You have to look else ware, they do not appreciate your business, and your child could die from snake bites!
