50% price increase, poor management decisions....

We happened to be in Port Clinton from Toledo so my wife and I decided we would see if Mon Ami's buffet was running today. They usually have an excellent buffet with lots of options even though it was on the expensive side at $40 a person.

Well, when we arrived this time, the new price was $60 a person, >.> a 50% price increase, crazy... Well, we were there already so we sat down and ate anyways however it just gets worse...

It appears Mon Ami is trying to downsize the operation not only by the 50% price increase which wouldn't have bothered me if they kept the same number of options on the buffet but the buffet had fewer options, many of the things on the buffet were lower quality than last year, and now the crab legs are being distributed by a staff member rather than you just going up and getting what you want.

They also moved the gift shop/wine sales to where the buffet used to be which was centrally located between the two dining rooms allowing for a smooth flow in and out for both dining rooms. Now, if they keep the dining room on the far left end of the building open, they will have to walk all the way down to where the gift shop/wine sales used to be which will likely make it more hectic than it used to be.

Used to LOVE the bannas foster which used to be made with rum but now they went cheap there as well using their own Mon Ami Chablis...

All in all I don't think we will be back and our family will probably not be coming either. If Mon Ami had just raised the price alone and not messed everything else up I would have come back. You can't have a HUGE price increase AND decrease the quality and quantity of items on the buffet though...

If things don't change I suspect Mon Ami will have a decent year this year until word gets around then business will start drying up.

I'll be surprised if its open past next year with the changes that took place.

If you guys got a new manager, find a new one...

Horrible Service, Rude

We called a week earlier and were told there were no reservations, which was fine except for the fact that when we showed up we were told there was a four and a half Hour wait yet when we waited at the bar there were 3 tables with no one sitting at them for over an hour. When we spoke to the manager she was extremely rude and told us she had pages those people for over an hour. Apparently they don't take reservations but they will page people for hours. So my suggestion if you plan in going to this poorly run establishment is to go a few hours early put your name in and leave because they will page you until you decide to show back up.

They have a beautiful Merlot with a great bouquet. Sea food is out of this world. Go on Thursday. Good service. Easy to get to.
