Founded in 1969, Whitman Elementary School offers a range of educational programs to more than 300 students in pre-kindergarten through grade five. Its syllabus includes English, mathematics, science, physical education, social studies and language arts. The school conducts classes in art and music, as well as administer special education and Title I programs. It also maintains a library and media center that stocks books and periodicals and provides links to search engines. The school operates a parent-teacher association that conducts several fundraising events and programs. In addition, its facilities include a cafeteria and computer laboratory. Located in Pontiac, Mich., Whitman Elementary School is a part of the Pontiac School District, which serves over 9,500 students in various elementary, middle and high schools.
