We are a highly precise CNC shop located on the western edge of Cape Cod in Massachusetts. Our custom machining capabilities are employed primarily to serve local and worldwide customers engaged in underwater activities. Our precision parts are used for applications scanning the gamut from sophisticated data gathering, employing sonar, acoustic, and imaging technologies, to full scale AUVs (autonomous underwater vehicles) engaged in a variety of military, energy exploration, and oceanographic research purposes. Pocasset Machine operates numerous three, four, and five-axis machining centers, plus a full complement of turning centers, to manufacture precision metal and plastic components for its customers, many of which have been served by us for decades. We also do some assembly work for clients, including manual welding. Our quality lab is fully staffed with experienced personnel. Pocasset Machine began under a different name in the 1960’s as a two-man tool & die shop in Waltham, MA. Al Kent acquired the shop in 1977 and soon thereafter relocated it to Cape Cod, positioning the company to serve the local oceanographic research market, including the prestigious Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute. Al’s two sons, Barry and Chris, soon took over for their father, successfully operating and growing the company for nearly five decades. In July 2025, the brothers sold the firm to Compass Precision, who continues to run the company in the same fashion as it has for many years. Our shop in Pocasset, MA is 19,000 square feet in size and employees about 25 experienced CNC machinists, programmers, inspectors, support and management personnel. We are an operating company under the umbrella of Compass Precision, a tightly integrated network of custom, precision CNC machine shops scattered across the United States and headquartered in Charlotte, NC. Like all of our sister Compass shops, we would be pleased to serve your high mix, low volume needs for precise, complex geometry metal components.
