my cat came in for a radio iodine injection due to hyperthyroid. we saw dr. tumulty who was very professional and explained and answered all questions. my cat had to stay for 4 nights and he called every day to give me an update. his assistant Lois needs to be trained because she gave us wrong information about the after care of our cat. the information she gave me could of made me decide against this injection. again dr tumulty was great.

I came with an emergency with my dog after being told by my vet to go to your office. My vet called ahead and explained situation, and asked me to do the same and say we were on our way, which I did. My dog needed an ultra sound before I could know for sure if she had pyometra or was pregnant. I rushed to your office and after waiting for quite a while found out the internal medicine people who do those tests were gone for the day. I was told I could leave my dog overnight to be monitored and get the ultra sound in the morning. The doctor I saw said she needed more xrays to get a better view of my dogs belly to which I asked can we do the xrays tonight and I’ll bring her back for the ultra sound in the morning? I had received the estimates by then and determined I could not afford an overnight stay, I thought the doctor I dealt with understood.. she said they could do the xrays before I took her home and left the room. An assistant came in a few times, she was very sweet. I was under the impression my dog was getting the xrays and I asked her one of the last times she came in if they had been done and she told me that she thought they had. I waited in the exam room for over an hour when the doctor came in saying she heard I had questions.. so I asked what the result of the xrays were. That’s when the doctor told me that no xrays had been taken because they can’t do anything until I consented to one of the estimates they gave me. Needless to say I was upset and asked for my dog so I can leave, I’m a single mother and was there with my 10 year old child. It was almost 9pm at that point and after 3 hours and $225 later I was no closer to finding out what was wrong with my dog. I paid, got her script and left! Came back for ultra sound at 8am next morning.. 3 hrs later, and another $380 was told my dog did indeed need the surgery. Had I had your establishment do the surgery with the 2/3 days of overnight stays afterwards it would have cost me upwards of $10,000.00. I brought my dog somewhere else, she received the surgery within 2 hrs of leaving and it’s costing me approximately a 5th of that. Shame on you for making me feel like I may have to put my dog down because your prices are so inflated I’d have to take out a loan to pay them. The staff that answers the phones.. are very nice but grossly uniformed and the fact that my dog received no real treatment because you had not received my Consent aka been paid yet is disgusting. I will never recommend your establishment because it is very clear that money far out weighs your concern for the patients you treat!

I came into Long Island Veterinary Specialists for an emergency at 10:45 pm Wednesday night and, although I was told (both on the phone & in person) it was an hour and a half wait, we were not seen until 3:00 am Thursday morning. We saw Laura Fiore, DVM. Although she has an awful professional reputation among my family and friends, I didn't have another option. Dr. Fiore came in after reviewing my cat's blood work and notes from our regular vet, did *not* do a physical exam on my cat and began to list treatment options in response to what I explained was the presenting problem. At the end of the consultation, she informed me she would be taking my cat into the back for 'a minute' in order to take his temperature. My cat didn't return for over a half hour, causing concern. A tech informed me that the vet, Laura Fiore, was only now performing a physical exam on my cat. When Dr. Fiore finally returned (I was the LAST person in the waiting room) she began listing the drugs (which they coincidentally sold in-house) she was going to place him on. One of the medications listed was in the same class as a drug my cat was already on.. so, like a well-versed owner, I inquired about this. Laura Fiore instantly went on the defense. She smirked while explaining the drug class the medication fell into and how that would assist with the problem. My cat was already on a benzodiazepine for that reason so I just wanted to make sure this new drug was a necessity versus tweaking the dosage of the medication he was on. Dr. Fiore became snippy and rude. Before parting ways I requested a copy of her notes to be emailed directly to me. Dr. Fiore was less than thrilled but agreed to send them to me as well. Good thing too because, although I provided her with my vets' information during the appointment, she STILL sent the notes to the wrong vet's office. Overall, Laura Fiore, DVM, didn't interact with my cat (her patient) & had an unapproachable demeanor. I would not recommend them.

Dr. Kim and Dr. Sapienza are first class. Saved my dog’s eye last year after he suffered a terrible corneal ulcer, luckily the emergency surgery helped save his vision. We are being treated again for another corneal ulcer and the staff there have been great!

I have been to LIVS ultie times and always had pleasnt helpful care. Recently i brought my doberman who suffers from brutal oseoarthris. The care and knowledge we received was tremendous and so helpful. Dr. Morgan spent a long time answer g all my questions and giving me endless options for treatment which I was never told before feom other vets. This facility is filled with wonderful caring and the best doctors in the world. I would never go anywhere else and if they treated humans they would be my doctor. Thank you LIVS😗❤

I had an emergency with my hamster named Popcorn at 1 am tonight (I won't get into details about what happened... it's pretty grotesque). The vet saw me right away and did everything in her power to make the cost as low as possible. They were all very friendly and didn't act like it was insane to bring a hamster to the vet at 1 am! I am so pleased and would definitely recommend this vet to anyone!!! It's so amazing that they are open 24 hours.

Horrible experience. Briefly felt my dogs hind quarters, shoulders, and mid-section. Was charged full price even though we had not received even a routine physical examination of Mouth/Teeth/ Gums, Heart/ Cardiovascular, Lungs/Trachea, etc.

I would never consider going again.

Dr. Sapienza saved my puppy's eye! Her eye was at 90% destroyed by a melting ulcer and he booked her surgery for the very next morning. While in surgery he changed the type of surgery so that there would be minimal scarring. This facility is clean and prompt and everyone I have ever spoken to is extremely helpful. I recommend them 1000%

My original vet nearly killed my dog. Then I went to Dr Marino to help save our dog, who am I kidding dog, he's one of our family members. Dr Marino saved him. I hope I don't have an emergency but if I do I will most certainly go there. Thank you Dr Marino and to your staff as well.

I'm posting this all over the web - why? Because even though I wrote a letter to Dr. Marino and his staff at Long Island Veterinary Specialists thinking them for their loving care for Casey during her illness, and especially Dr Ireifej- who was with her at the end. It doesnt seem enough. There are no words that can describe the loss we feel, but I know that all along, they gave her the best possible care. I feel comforted knowing that she was in good hands and they didnt allow her to suffer. They gave her the love and attention she needed up to her last moments. Thank you again for all you have done to help our family and thank you for those last few precious months after the radiation. We didnt realize at the time just how cherished they would be.

My daughter's very special assistant service dog Dylan was brought to LIVS and despite their medical expertise, his prognosis was such that we had to let him pass on. The staff's genuine kindness to Dylan and ourselves gave us great comfort while we made this very sorrowful decision. We will always be grateful to them. They also extended a generous discount to us for his hospital stay. We can't thank them enough.

Dear Dr. Marino, I am doggy Mommy to Scarlett (the "miracle" Cavalier) and Pandora. Although we have never actually met personally, (tho' not for my lack of trying :-( ) I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you have done for my beautiful Cavalier girls :-) They are doing great and I am sending you a giant cyber hug! We will be up to NY probably around the holidays and we will schedule their annual MRI's. I hope that at that time, we can get to meet face to face and if it doesn't embarrass you too much, I would like to shake your hand, and give you that giant hug! God Bless You and your amazing staff and truly wonderful facility!! Warmest Regards, Debbie B.

Learning that my 18 month old pup needed two hip replacements and two patella luxations was devastating to me to say the least. Her original vets never diagnosed the whole picture. They said she had one bad knee. Thanks to Dr. Kevin Kirk, I learned about LIVS. I cannot begin to tell you what a remarkable, compassionate, dedicated staff works there. To me, Doctor Marino and Doctor Infernuso are Greek Gods. Where many told me to put Chanel to sleep, they immediately informed me of what they could do. Doctor Marino is only one of two doctors in the U.S. who performs nano hip replacements for dogs and incredibly magnificent at it. Doctor Infernuso held my hand through the crisis' Chanel encountered and always treated her as if she were his. He treated me with kindness and gentleness knowing what she meant to me. Not to mention the boxes of tissues he had to hand over. The staff at LIVS is remarkable, the place warm, the experience as gentle and comforting as can be. Thank you!

Can't thank them enough! Used them several times & grateful each time. Most memorable is when I brought my hunting dog there 9yrs ago. Had hip surg on both sides for dysplasia. Thankfully they made the diagnosis early on. If you could see him run today you would swear he was a greyhound! I get such reactions when I tell people he had double hip surgery. Recently back for knee surgery and again a success, fantastis recovery. I would absolutely recommend them. We are lucky to have this state of the art facility available to us! Pricewise-they are the cheapest. Although I have been very pleased with care they have given, I checked out prices for the knee surgery at other large centers since they are now in existence and $ is always a factor. Some came in $600 more for same surgery. LIVS gave an estimate range and they came within the estimate. Couldn't be happier. I only wish my experience at human hospitals were this good!
