Horrible Seating

I went to this restaurant for the first time ever on 7/4/13 at 1:30pm for lunch. I was ignored as I asked if it was self seating. I chose a booth in the back of the restaurant and was told I had to move to the bar area because booths were reserved for parties of two only. I got up and left and will never return. I wanted to sit in a comfortable area on this non-busy day. What type of way is thus to treat customers???

Melrose Diner is da Bomb! Breakfast Special Number 4 scramble the eggs after a night on the town or anytime. Hot apple pie with vanilla sauce - please! It is impossible to get a bad meal at this place at any time of day. I have been a regular since moving to Philly from NYC in 81 to go to Penn.

I have been a Melrose Diner patron since my pre-school years, and am very resistant to change. Needless to say, when I returned to Melrose recently after several years of living out of state, I was shocked that the dinner's menu had changed. My MP-4 was no longer there and the new menus were contemporary and sleek. The menu options had definitely expanded and well I almost left because this no longer seemed like the Melrose I had known and loved. However, I stuck it out and ordered something very different and low and behold it was excellent!!!! I have never bee as impressed or as proud of this little diner. They are still great and even better now! Melrose is a Philadelphia staple for a reason! I will never stay away too long anymore.

Best of...

Philadelphia diners, especially for the desserts. Recently took a visitor from Atlanta to the Melrose... the waitress behind the counter called her "hon" about 3 times - it couldn't have been better if it had been rehearsed!
