I hired him on the recommendation of an acquaintance of mine. When I met with him to hire him, I told him that I could paint a room, but I wanted the trim to look sharp and I was afraid that I would make a mistake and mess up the already straight lines. Well, I made a big mistake in hiring him. I was exhausted when I got home from work on day one, and should have been more wary when he was finished. I should have paid him via check so I could stop the payment. Over the next two days I noticed big mistakes and sloppy trim. There were spots where he'd spilt blue paint on my carpet, missed places on the wall, painted on the window (in the middle).



I called him and he was a little rude at first about coming back, but to his credit, he did. After awhile of being there, he seemed to be a little nicer about it and began to suggest things he could do to make up for it, including fixing a spot on the outside of my house. He claimed he would replace the wood and prime and paint it.



He did not finish the job the second day, and took my can of paint as if he would get more. It was nearly a week before I heard from him again. When he finally came back, he brought someone with him to clean the carpet, and he set to fixing the outside. Now, I have a spot on the front of the OUTSIDE of my house where he cut off a section of wood and just painted over the hole. He did not replace it. And he has yet to finish fixing the trim and painting where he missed spots on the original job. That is what I paid him to do, and all that I wanted him to do.



Before leaving this time he informed me that he had other jobs next week so he couldn't get back. Well, he had a job for me two weeks ago that he has been paid to do, and he still has not done it.



I don't have the can of paint, but he will not be coming in my house again. Luckily I still have the paint chip.



If you use him, just make sure you check every little detail before you pay him. Have him sign a list of your expectations. He makes a lot of claims, but my living area is still unfinished two weeks later (and three weeks after giving him half the money). It was such a waste of money when I could have done the same job, but better. After telling my friend about it I she remembered that he did not lay drop clothes down when he painted her room either and ended up having to clean her carpet as well.
