The Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center in Pennsburg, Pennsylvania engages visitors in exploration of the themes of tolerance, migration, and heritage in their lives through highlighting the stories of the Pennsylvania Germans of the Perkiomen region, especially those of the Schwenkfelders. The Schwenkfelders, a Protestant reformation group heavily persecuted in Europe, came to southeastern Pennsylvania in the early 1700s seeking religious freedom. Visitors will see looms and lathes, paintings and plows, chests and cider presses – all various household furnishings and farm tools from the 1700s through the early 1900s. Researchers in the library can trace their genealogy. Besides exhibits, there are programs for adults and kids, with the ever-popular Penn Dry Goods Market antique show and symposium the first weekend in June. The museum and library are open without admission Tuesday through Sunday.
