Enthusiastic Teacher ; By twhyg_00 ; Feb 10, 2010 ; Roark is a very patient individual and a great teacher. He will suggest songs based on your criterion or you could pick it yourself. He will teach you music theory or just get right into the song......your choice. Can not go wrong with his pricing.

Execllent skill, attention to detail, and a great interest in what styles you like and want to learn is what you can expect. As well as leaving with a good sence that he has gone the extra mile to make sure you got what you wanted out of the lesson. I only took lessons for a about 2 months before moving overseas for a year and a half, but when I returned he not only remembered me, but remembered everything we worked on, and picked up right where we left off. No matter what your skill level you can greatly benefit from his instruction. I highly recommend him to anyone thats ever thought about guitar lessons.

The best teacher on earth!‎ By Ricardo - Dec 5, 2009 ; ‎I am a 27 yr old who loves music and always dreamed of playing the guitar, but never thought it would be possible at this age. But lucky for me I found his ad on Google. It caught my attention because he was local and affordable. Now I have been going to Roark for the last 5 months, and I can't believe how much I've learned! At first it was very frustrating, but Roark was extremely patient with me and teaches me the music I want to learn. If I was to compare Roark to a Star Wars character, he is definitely Yoda! The force is strong with him! Highly recommend his INSPIRING music lessons to anybody of any age. As a matter of fact, my little 12 yr old brother is going to start piano lessons with him real soon!! Thank you Roark for making my dreams come true!!‎

Great Guitar Instructor! Frederic - 11-23-09‎ When I started learning guitar in 1995, I fortuitously stumbled onto Roark's Guitar Instruction. He will teach you what you want to learn, not what he wants you to learn! Having had lessons from other teachers who insisted you learn what they like, this was a huge plus. An important feature of his instruction is that he will provide you the detail that you are looking for. If you are a purist and want to get every note correct, he will break it down for you. However, if you are just looking for an 80% solution, he will give you a very helpful outline. He will also explain to you his thought process, which is very helpful and interesting! I no longer live in Southern California, but whenever I visit, always manage to schedule a few lessons. As a professional who has very little free time, I have also had remote lessons with him where we will exchange notes via e-mail until he provides me with a solution.Very convenient and worth every penny!

Wonderful. I went to him as a 70 year-old beginner. He listened to what I wanted to learn and he crafts every lesson to help me along. He is totally engaged, each lesson is filled with teaching, and tips, and music history and just enough theory to understand why we are doing what we are doing.
