Went to Newby's Trading on Thomas Drive to rent Paddle board. We didn't have the board one hour and the fin broke. When I returned the board and paddle, manager said he was charging me for both the fin and the paddle. He said he wanted to charge $100.00 to my account. I explained the paddle was loose when we got it. He let it slip that another customer today had broke the fin and paddle and he charged them retail, but he wasn't going to charge me retail. (How kind!) He gave us shoddy equipment and now wants us to pay. I told him this was a scam and I was not paying. (When I first paid the deposit, they wanted to keep my credit card, but I refused.)Finally, I got to speak with the owner. He said nothing has broken all summer. (get your story right cuz your manager isn't saying that) i told the manager i will do what i can to get my credit card company to get the money back. He didn't seem to care. From this experience i have learned to go with a reputable business when renting anything. Do Not use Newbys on Thomas drive. They are not a reputable business.
