Founded in 1910, Koraes Elementary School serves more than 150 students in kindergarten through grade eight. The school is recognized by the Illinois State Board of Education, Greek Orthodox Archdiocese and Ministry of Education of Greece. It features a preschool, playground, gymnasium, and technology and science laboratories. The school s academic curriculum includes mathematics, geography, science, language arts and English. Koraes Elementary School also maintains cooking, book publishing, chess, drama, film, geography, Greek mythology, finance, student and yearbook clubs. It additionally offers classes in music, physical education and art. The school provides various activities, including basketball, soccer, cheerleading and traditional Greek dancing. In addition, the school maintains a parent-teacher organization that organizes various fundraising programs and other activities. Koraes Elementary School is located in Palos Hills, Ill.
