Horsehead Corporation is a provider of metal recycling and recovery services. The company specializes in recycling zinc, lead, cadmium, iron and calcium metals from hazardous and non-hazardous waste. Horsehead Corporation is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Horsehead Industries, a large, privately-held manufacturing corporation in the United States. Horsehead Industries also owns the Zinc Corporation of America, which was formed from the merger of two companies that had been producing zinc since the mid-1800s: the New Jersey Zinc Company and St. Joe Resources Company. Horsehead is headquartered in Palmerton, Pa. Palmerton is approximately 85 miles northwest of Philadelphia.
