The Palatine Fire Department is a full-service organization located approximately 15 miles northwest of O Hare International Airport. The department responds to more than 7,000 combined fire and emergency medical service calls annually. It offers fire suppression, emergency medical services, extrication, dive rescue, hazardous materials, technical rescue and bike medics. The Palatine Fire Department protects more than 66,000 people within a 14-square-mile area. It is also actively involved with fire departments in surrounding communities. Three battalion chiefs, assisted by three captains, oversee three duty shifts of 30 personnel responding from five fire stations.
