The Police Department of the village of Ossining, N.Y., includes a more than 55-member police force. Established in 1894, the department employs a captain, lieutenants, sergeants, detectives and over 35 patrol officers. It operates various divisions, including youth services, community policing, motorcycle unit and bike squad. The Police Department serves a community of approximately 24,000 residents. The department s community policing division provides security surveys to general public and small business owners. The Village of Ossining also operates building, fire, personnel, public works, planning, and recreation and parks departments. The village also operates treasurer, clerk and justice court offices.
