Casas Church is changing its mission

The mission has evolved over the last few years from being the church that cares about raising up Godly people to higher levels of spiritual maturity through mentors of greater maturity into being a church that values the Sunday morning experience and bringing in the unchurched and unsaved members of the local community to let them look and see what Casas Church has for them. The changes affect primarily the pastoral services offered, the type of worship in the NW Center, and the way the pastors interact with the church attenders and members. Historically, Casas Church was supportive of a number of volunteer groups that organized for various constructive purposes. Some of these groups were small groups that met during the week in the evenings primarily. Most of these groups met for Bible Study, fellowship, and prayer. Other of these groups were for hurting individuals in need of support and recovery. Still more of these groups were Adult Bible Fellowship (ABF) classes that met on Sunday mornings. ABF's had been service-oriented and active in the community in voluntary roles for charitable causes. They were also supportive of missionaries supported by the Casas Missions Pastorship.Over these years of change, Casas Church attendance and level of tithing income has fallen significantly. Naturally as a consequence, the number of employees has fallen. This downsizing has yet to affect the number of pastors on the Casas staff. Many of the "pastors" on staff do not minister to the needs of the members, serving only as administrators and planners that conduct meetings and supervise the many activities that take place on Sunday mornings. The Food Court and Catering Service is temporarily out of service but no plans for re-opening have been made. The future of this service is presently in doubt. Another pastoral service in doubt is the Pastoral Care Center. The staff has been drastically reduced from its former level and it is now down to one counselor. Recently, the Casas Celebrate Recovery held its last meeting on July 10, 2012 after ten years of meetings. What is curious about CCR cancellation is that the Casas Leadersip failed to find a leader to replace the previous leader who resigned. Another casualty of downsizing will be the Rohring On Homebound Ministry, whose volunteers make visits to Casas members family who are unable to go to church regularly. Many of these people are elderly and infirm, living alone or in elder care homes. This ministry will be strictly volunteer-run and will suffer for lack of funding. The type of worship in the NWC has changed. The choir has been disbanded. The musicians and singers are more like performing artists in a concert style environment. The volume is loud. If you try to sing along, your voice is drowned out by the music and singers. It is great if you like to go to church to be entertained. I want to participate in worship more than be overwhelmed by the performers. I like the music and performers like Hillsong Australia that I have seen give live performances. I went there to be entertained and inspired. But I go to church to interact with the Holy Spirit and music is one way to do this interaction. The teaching of Pastor Roger was deeper intellectually and more challenging for self examination of beliefs and faith. His knowledge and wisdom is greater than Glen or Jack, who seem to be hesitant to feed the congregation more than just milk like we are all just baby Christians.Well this is just one man's review and you should not hesitate to see what the Sunday morning experience is all about. Just don't have high expectations because you may be disappointed. Meet some people and see what they do to be involved. Hope the Lord is able to bless you in all you do.

Dex map is wrong

I have been attending Casas for 15 years now and love it! However, the church is on the WEST side of La Cholla.
