I agree totally with the other reviewer. During the holidays, I went to this Bakers late one night after getting off work. Apparently there were quite a few people who had the same idea because the store at 1am had a good amount of people in there shopping. Of course, only the self service counters were open and they were backing up. They had one checker available and he had beckoned me to come through one of the regular check out stands. Unfortunately, he had to keep running back and forth to help the people in the self check out. Well, I had keyed in my customer number and machine and checker said it had went through, but when he rang up the total it did not take off the savings - over $19.00. I asked if he could give me the cash back or put that amount on my card, he said I would have to come back during regular hours. Since I didn't really want to do that, I asked if there was a manager on duty. The security guard (if you can call him that) very reluctantly said he would try to find someone. I told him I didn't want to inconvenience him since he acted like I had asked him to walk the plank. Anyway, he reappeared a few minutes later and told me no one was available and I would have to come back - and he did this in a not so pleasant way I might add. Needless to say I was was a bit miffed at the entire situation. I did go back a couple days later and was given the refund, but I really think this could have been handled better. I will go back to this Bakers - but only during normal business hours. I see no reason why this store should be open 24 hours since the service you get after hours is less than desirable.

customer service be damned!

I went to the Baker's on Saddlecreek early one morning before work. Their self-scanning machines are pretty much all that is open at that hour. Of course, I get the crappy machine that won't read any bar codes-- even with the employees assistance. Fifteen minutes into the 15-item purchase process at the register, I was getting concerned about being late for work. Finally finished, I got my purchase and rushed out-- forgetting my change. I got to work (at the bell) and called. I was told I was out of luck. Angry, I waited until later and talked to the assistant manager. He too, told me it was my fault for not getting my change. Apparently they take no responsiblity for their machines working properly. I'll never go back!!! Baker's used to be about customer service. It was worth it to spend a little more. Not anymore-- times (management) has changed. I recommend that people shop elsewhere. If you're not going to get customer service, you might was well go to any store with better prices! So disappointed.
