Stephen Center in Omaha, Nebraska has been serving the homeless and the poor since 1984. Partnering with individuals as well as families and community, the center helps individuals overcome their problems of drug abuse/homelessness, and regain a life of sobriety through various programs such as the HERO program which provides a 64-bed treatment center for those with alcohol and drug addiction. It has a thrift store which provides job training and also vouchers to the clients to shop for various items. Its Pettigrew emergency shelter has a separate dorm for men and women and also four family units, while its Permanent Supportive Housing Apartments (PSH) has 61 units for people with low-income.
