Wondering where all the amazing Indian food disappeared to downtown? Rumor has it this is what happened to the chef from the five star Indian Oven (which has since run drastically downhill). Seek this tiny place out if you want smaller prices for drastically better food. If you appreciate real Indian food, you won't be disappointed.

A friend recommended we try Mother India, he said it was the best Indian food in Omaha. When we arrived we found they had been recognized as one of Omaha's Best Restaurants for 2013. My friend warned that it is a mom and pop place with just a few tables and not exactly a fine dining atmosphere.
The food was awesome!!! We ordered a nutty-sweet "Kabuli Naan" with a spicy cilantro yogurt dip as our appetizer. The combination of sweet and spicy flavors was tantalizing. I had the "Lamb Biryani" with raisins and slivered almonds in basmati rice... It was a sumptuous blend of flavors and spice. My wife had the "Chicken Mole" and her initial reaction was astonishment, "it is done to perfection!" We each had a refreshing yogurt dink called a "Lassi", mine was mango and hers strawberry. The service was great, the atmosphere turned out to be quaint and homey, all in all a wonderful dining experience for under $50.
