Fred told me initially that a repair for a BMW 330i (04) transmission would cost $3400, so you can compare other places for that if you desire. He later found out that the actual issue with the car was that it was hydrolocked. He charged $953 to fix it, so you can judge your decisions based upon that as well if you desire. He gives a discount for paying in cash, and for military, 5% for either, stacking to 10%.

I was impressed that he was thorough enough to figure out what was actually wrong with the car rather than simply replace the transmission when it was not actually the issue, saving me about $2000. Also, I accidentally overpaid him in cash, and he was honest enough to call me up and let me know. He then sent it back to me in the mail ($105). This lends credibility towards him being an honest guy.

He also repaired my heater, but asked me before doing it, because it would cost an additional $250. I agreed to it, and I do not regret it. In this weather, it is essential to have a good heater.

Overall, it wasn't as painful of an experience as it could have been, despite costing me about 1150 dollars.
