Eastern Nebraska Community Office of Retardation and Developmental Disabilities, also known as ENCOR, is a state-supported agency that helps and supports people with developmental disabilities. People with developmental disabilities live in homes located throughout the five-county area that ENCOR serves. The homes blend into the surrounding neighborhood with little notice. The amount of staffing depends on the individual s capabilities. For adults who have most of the skills necessary for independent living, ENCOR will provide occasional staff supervision for daily activities, such as money management, attending to medical needs, grocery shopping, socialization and personal care. In these situations adults reside with friends or independently. For persons with more needs, ENCOR provides homes with continual staff supervision. These homes comply with the applicable state regulatory authorities.
