Pleasant surprise

Food was tasty and well served in small/intimate place in the Old Market. Have gone back several times.

Excellent!

My husband and I have visited Ahmad's restaurant on several occasions when visiting relatives in Omaha. We have found the food and service to be top drawer. We especially like the opportunity to try some different tastes rather

than the standard fare. We also enjoy eating outside, if the weather permits, so we can enjoy the atmosphere of the

old market.

My husband and I went to Ahmad's a few days ago and found the food basically tasteless and the drinks even worse. My husband ordered off the menu and I ordered the lamb shank special (the waitress couldn't find a menu with the specials on it so she simply told us about them -- leaving out the prices). I ordered a margarita and my husband ordered a long island iced tea and until going to this place I thought it was pretty hard to screw up these drinks -- Ahmad's managed to do it. I took one drink and gave up and decided to order a glass of wine instead.

When my husband and I go out to dinner we expect to pay somewhere between $60 and $80 and expected the tab to be on the low end of that estimate so we were really surprised when the bill came to $110 -- my husband's meal was $18 and mine was $35! Each drink that we had was $10 -- even the house wine!

This restaurant is in a very small space so the operating cost must be minimal and I feel that the owner should pass on the savings by charging lower prices -- in my opinion, $35 for a 'special' is outrageous and $10 for either mixed drinks or wine is tantamount to highway robbery. The saddest thing of all is that if the food had been as good as it is touted as being I might not have liked paying so much but it would have been easier to swallow. When considering the cost, how noisy it was, and how poorly the drinks were made combined with the tastelessness of the food my husband and I will never eat there again.

One of my favorite--

in the top three favorites--places to eat in Omaha. Everything is wonderful, start to finish: the food, the atmosphere, the impeccable service. I'm hungry just thinking about it.
